A fight against Tyranny
For centuries the Earthen Union led the world as a beacon of sustainability, social justice, prosperity, and security. The people and their leaders existed in harmony with the land itself, which acted as an equal partner and facilitated their place as the leader of the free world.
Within the Earthen Union, certain citizens with natural druidic gifts trained to become either mages or rangers. Mages accepted power from the earth and used it to grow, fix, heal, and move. Rangers formed powerful bonds with animals that allowed them to borrow magical gifts, boosting their natural abilities far beyond normal limits.
Ten years ago, a mage on the high council, known officially as The Councilor began preaching a controversial new way of using power. Instead of simply accepting power from the earth, he would take as much as he liked.
Over time, the Councilor became more blatant about his abuse of power, and eventually he had a great many followers within the ranks of the mages, the Ranger Corps, and the general population, who believed that only taking the power the Earth gave was foolish, when all along druids had the power to take as much as they wanted.
One year ago, the Councilor forced an emergency vote of the council, declared himself the ruler, and granted himself emergency powers in time of war. The traditional use of druidic powers was declared illegal, and dark mages and rangers who violently drained the life from the earth and from animals became the enforcers of the new regime.
Within a month it was illegal to speak out against the new government, or to refer to it as anything other than The Earthen Empire. War had been declared on Kresh to the north, and Solera to the south, and the borders of the Empire had already begun to expand.
Those who refused to submit and join the ranks of the Dark Druids were executed, imprisoned, or went into hiding. The few who managed to escape the wrath of the Dark Druids formed a resistance, meeting in secret, desperately planning a way to bring back their old way of life as they saw the land around them suffering for the glory of their new leaders.
These are the stories of those who resisted…
Each issue features a main story illustrated by Yonson Carbonell, following the story of the mage Kas and the ranger Peter as they trek across the former Earthen Union on an important mission.
Each issue features a backup story illustrated by Ed Gan, following the story of the ranger Pan as she searches the ruins of the destroyed University, in hopes of recovering ancient knowledge before the Empire wipes it out forever.

The first issue is already at the printer, and I am offering an exclusive pre-sale with a discount here on my website until July 7th. The pre-order is limited to print copies ONLY, but if you purchase a print copy, you will receive immediate access to the digital edition of Earthen Souls #1. All pre-orders made on or before July 7th will ship out on July 15th, and will come signed by Caleb Palmquist. Any orders made after July 7th will be shipped as quickly as possible - remember we are a small team with limited capabilities.
